The information set out below on Bilateral Investment Treaties (BITs) and bilateral
free trade agreements entered into by ICSID Contracting States is collected in conjunction
with the international arbitration group of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (who
provide the dates) and Prof. Thomas E. Carbonneau, Samuel P. Orlando Distinguished
Professor of Law at the Penn State Dickinson School of Law (who provides the documents).
To determine whether there is a BIT between any two ICSID Contracting States, please
click on one of those States in the alphabetical listing; all the BITs negotiated
by that State with other ICSID Contracting States will be listed in alphabetical
order, featuring the date of signature, the entry into force date and (when available)
the full text of the document. Information on states that are not signatories to
ICSID, for example, Canada, Mexico and Poland, can be found in the Guide to ICSID
Arbitration by Lucy Reed, Jan Paulsson & Nigel Blackaby.
